Post by claretone » Tue Mar 22, 2016 11:26 am

a bloke named Greg Finney with a 14kg flathead from Mallacoota. Released to give someone else some fun.
Could this be a world record?

Could be. A pic from another angle would be handy to make sure it isn't the old 'hold it close to the camera' trick though.

according to some places flathead to 15kg have been caught but I believe the official record is much lower than that. the other thing I'll mention is with a fish that size it needs to be supported and not just lifted by its head.

Agreed some fisho's just don't get how much damage they are doing using lip or gill lifts it severely decreases their chances of survival after release.
If its intended for the plate fine but if its to be released use a comfort lift and support its body weight and don't keep it out of the water too long.

It's older than that. One of the problems with facebook highlighted in that thread last week, so many morons believing everything they see as gospel

I would like this, but we aren't on Facebook, so I'll just have to agree 100 times over.

Pretty sure 14 Facebook kilos is converted to about 8.695 real kilo.. Either way it's a big frog
