A 3-5kg rod is a nice allrounder that is light enough for the smaller species like whiting and flathead but should be able to handle a decent snapper and give you a fighting chance with a gummy if you're lucky enough to come across either of those.

I can't vouch for that particular brand and it looks like a Chinese piece of **** tbh; if you're in the market for a cheap combo you might as well go to Kmart because at least you know their Chinese pieces of **** are covered by consumer law and Jarvis Walker is generally pretty good with swapping things over if they break.
2015/16 Fisting Victoria Species comp total: 289cm
Brown Trout: 37cm
Flathead: 51cm; Squid: 36cm; Australian Salmon: 51cm; Snapper 46cm; Silver Trevally 23cm; KGW: 45cm

Save your money and not buy **** single use stuff.

Go to anaconda. Grab a free membership card at the counter. Go shopping.

Shimano Sienna 4000 - $38.95
Shimano eclipse 762 - $32

This combo will suffice and last a while.
