My mate went and had a look at Blairgowrie today and he rekons he found some nice areas with weed and broken ground.
I had another spot at Blaire in mind as well, So I think we'll end up down there by the sounds of it.

Id like to try a morning but this weeks weather has us starting earlier and earlier.
Im hoping dusk might have a chance.
The spot im thinking of has a big arse sand bar that drops into deep water so I might be able to flick a few deeper I hope.
cheers cam

We got out yesterday at a Blairgowrie for a flick on the plastics for flattys.
I got heaps of bites and my plastics got ripped to bits :bat:

I thought it was toadies as there were a couple.
I kept having a crack with the stump left of a plastic and had two small flats come to my feet they were about 6 inches.
A bit too small to take the hook I think.
So im thinking they were the ones smashing the plastics to little bits.
It was fun either way and a success to a point lol.
keen to have another go and try to get some that are bigger.

Is there a hard bodied lure that flattys like to chew on????

The mate that was with me wants to go for a gummy run early tomorow morning, might head out with him if I can spare some time.
Keen to try out the new rod

Use the lightest jighead you can to get to the bottom, wade a few metres before the gutter and cast into it, bounce your SP along a couple of times, walk a few metres, repeat.

First thing in the morning is best, as on a bright day the fish will retreat to deeper water after the sun comes up.
yes...I use to guide some very wealthy clients doing the same thing with 2 kg line

you can catch some awesome fish !! just be prepared for snap offs

Get yourself some Zman plastics. They are harder to rip apart and week last you longer if this kind of stuff keeps happening. You Elo also need the headlockz jig heads to use them as they are hard to keep on a normal jighead. If toadies are there and you have gulp plastics they will shred it in seconds...

Gulps are a great way to boost your confidence in lure fishing, one you feel confident, there are much much better plastics out there.

Let us know how you go anyway ;)

Ahh righty'o
I lost faith in the plastics a while ago.
Got a fair few different ones and I never got a thing, but It was mainly land based.
I wasn't until the other week when we had a good session on the flatties that I thought cool these actually work.

Id rather flick a plastic or lure any day of the week over bait.
Its more enjoyable and entertaining doing somthing apart from sitting on me bum and waiting.

What are the better plastics that are out there?
