No probs trout hunter, i use it myself and have done so since i was a kid,my grandfather showed me (i'm 48 now) so it isn't a new bait. I've contacted the dpi in both NSW & Vic several times over the years when this one comes up and neither have ever come back with any negative responses to my enquiries. A NSW fisheries officer did one time say anything with a hook in it isn't healthy for a fish to eat if the angler has the intention of keeping the fish.

It has been suggested that the "cheese conspiracy" is pushed along now & again by the native lure making & bait selling industry, considering that you can get a kilo of cheese for the price of 2 grubs or an entire cheese factory for the price of a handful of speciality "native" lures, this may have some merit to it

Bega Bar-B-cubes is my cheese of choice, comes allready cut to size and goes down well with a cold beer while waiting for a bite

Makes sence that people selling bait would say no to cheese. you can buy bardi grub cheese moulds on e bay, they actually look pretty good to. Ive only fished for cod over the last 2 years and all the info ive heard on baits is all odd stuff like boild eggs, mice, baby chicks (dead), even rats get used up the murray. I have only used cheese, bardi grubs and shrimp.

There's lots of things that catch cod, just some work better than others.Grub's & yabbies would be my first picks when chasing a big one. Cheese seems to attract the smaller ones (& trout cod) it also attracts the silvers & when they show up you might as well pack up & move spot.
