Hi,
taking 12 y/o son down to Nelson for a week of camping and fishing (12-18 January 2015).
Any reports or suggestions for getting him onto a decent fish would be greatly appreciated.
We would like to try out soft plastics for the first time - any best bets?
Regards,
Michael

Re: Recent Nelson Reports
Can't help with recent reports but for plastics generally stick with grub and minnow styles, with some of the more popular ones being squidgy wrigglers, squidgy fish, zman grubs, gulp turtlebacks, ect. Anything that imitates a fish, grub, worm ect should work but I'd go with the well known brands for best results.
Keep varying your retrieve until you find something that works, theres plenty of bream in that system and if you're lucky theres always the chance of jewies and EPs.

I don't know that system but 80 or 100mm wrigglers in bloodworm, 2.5" grubs in motor oil and gulp 6" sandworm in camo are a good bet most places.

Thanks all,
I will buy some squidgy Boof Mullet and Flash Prawn and give them a go. Looking forward to a week of father and son fishing.
