Yarra In Eltham
Yesterday (30th June) i had a morning free so decided to head down to the Yarra with my brother to wet a couple of lines. We tried a new spot we had never fished before and it took a bit of a hike to get there. after fishing for about an hour and a half and getting nothing i decided to move about 100 metres up the river and within 5 minutes a BIG carp took my worm and took off, it went for 2 runs, then trashed on top of the water before just lying motionless on top of the water not far from the bank, so i was thinking sweet just gotta reel this baby in, when all of a sudden its as if it just spat the hook out and swam off really slowly leaving me on the bank just watching. Some of you might be wondering why i seem so excited about a carp that i didnt even land, well its because iv never got onto anything in the Yarra before and have never caught a carp either, and well still haven't. For anyone wondering i was fishing a full scrubby on a running sinker rig but with a 3 way swivel so i could attach a scentinal.
will be heading back to that same spot next Sunday and hoping for just that little bit more luck

There is a fine line between fishing and just standing on the bank like an idiot, I excel in the latter!!!

Hey mate try cheese... You will get good size cod from warrendyte all the way through eltham. Drive up reynolds rd to the very end. Theres a fire access gate then a loooong steep dirt rd to walk down about 1km the yarra is big and deep and big cod live in there. I use motzarilla cheese, its the only cheese fish can digest other cheeses can catch you cod but also makes them a bit crook..

Re: Yarra In Eltham
The line on our cod rods is 15 to 20lb braid and hooks are random sizes, a big hook splits the cheese and it falls off when casting. Cheese should be no bigger than 1cm squar. We also use a normal running sinker set up. I think the most important thing is to SET YOUR DRAG... They are very strong fish. Spinner baits are very popular aswell but i havent had luck with them in the yarra.

That's a myth, can you show me any study's/research that has proven this to be true in regards to any type of cheese. Cod will regurgitate anything they cant digest.trout-hunter wrote:Hey mate try cheese...
