Hi guys I have a new boat arriving march and I have it set up to go offshore, I have never been to portland but heard the tuna and shark fishing is excellent, I have a trip planned in May for a week hopefully the weather is good and be can get a few days in, can any suggest some info or local knowledge on fishing those waters as I can't seem to find a lot of info , thanks guys

All I can say is that May seems like a good time to fish off Portland. I read of some big tuna caught down there last season.

I spoke to a charter boat and they told me to go for May as the weather is best and the tuna are in very close.

Look up bob fishing reports @wildblue you will find all the info you need when in town call at portland bait and tackle you can't miss it its on the main st on the way to the ramp. What sort of boat did you buy.

Cheers, I bought a surtees 5.5 hardtop, so keen to start some tuna fishing next year.

Will do, I'm super excited about it, taken me 4 boats and 10 years to finally get my dream boat, I have bigger boat I'm selling which is an Loyd but a ripper, time to buy what I want and not just a big boat so all my mates can come lol..
