Last Week of Trout Season
OK so I decided to head away to visit family for the last weekend (just gone) of trout season and thought I should actually do a report and post some pics. I dont usually take my phone down the river as I have a bad habit of dropping them into water.
The weather was great, it didnt snow and although it hit -2.2 Sunday night the days were nice and sunny and since we had had rain earlier in the week the rivers were up.
Sunday I hit the Thomson and caught about half a dozen 25- 30cm and I have no idea how many little ones- all released as I had roast lamb for later. Monday I went to the Goulburn as I always do, had my phone at the ready for part of the morning, about 3 hours and took some pics- got 26 in the morning, kept 6 for dinner for everyone, later on went to another area but only managed another half a dozen- all released.
Most of the browns were caught on a small brown trout pattern rapala and a few mepps. Rainbows were on another small rapala and mepps as well.
Tuesday I was going to hit some lakes I like as that is all you can do for the next 4 months or so (tend to get larger fish, 46cm is pb but I like the rivers more), but ended up getting a load of wood with 30t machine and two chainsaws- very fun day.
Not the best report (I am really bad at photos and tried to get a bit of a feel of the weekend but they really do no justice to just how nice it is up there) but thought I would put something up as I actually took some photos this time and it really is a great part of the world!!
