Two jig rigs - worth a try?

Post by LINwAd » Sat Mar 25, 2017 11:28 am

Hey all.

Saw somthing while cruising YouTube about riggin two soft plastics on one rig to increase your catches.

For example a 3 inch paddle tail as the main heavy soft plastic and further up the line rig a 2inch curly tail or something like that.

Has anyone tried a rig like this with success?

Gives you the option to try different colours and styles on the one rig I guess.

I think this is a common technique in fly fishing so worth a go.

The trailer plastic can be attached via a short leader from the main jig and be weightless i.e just on a hook or have one on a dropshot rig and a weighted jig on the bottom instead of a dropshot lead.

So i tried it out last night and got one flathead on the main paddle tail plastic. Will need to do more testing

I use this fishing over reef in Westernport. If the water is deep ill put a metal jig on the bottom instead of the sp.

I used to use Hokkai rigs with a large heavy lure at the bottom. Gives the effect of another fish feeding.

I've found this a great rig on flatties in water around 1-3mtr, the extra jig head helps get them down to 3mtr with the tide running.
