sewing thread. Cheap, strong and can even catch fish without setting the hook. :-) I have caught a few pinkies when the threads got tangled with the threads.

I just use the stuff all tackle shops sell bait buddy great when surf fishing and I use it on the boat when the bait is a bit soft and being sucked off.

Buy the elastic ones from EBay. Sooooo much better! Much easier to dispose of once you reel back in, takes ages to get bait buddy of your hook and leader, & i somehow manage to keep getting the end of it caught on my fingers then wrestling with it.. Pack of 5 is $10, au delivery.. Just type in elastic bait buddy (comes in a clear packet)..

thanks mate i find the same works well but makes a mess gets caught on hook,s hands etc
