Burley Bay fishing

Post by jedgpz » Wed Nov 21, 2018 10:57 am

Hey all
New to this salt water bay fishing and was interested to know what people use for burley .
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
Just brought a bay boat and will be heading out from near Geelong.
Cheers
Jed

Do you have a burly bucket attached to your boat?
Or putting out In a burly cage or
In a keepers net?
or just tossing some over the size?

If you get burly logs put in Burley bucket or keepers net with a loaf of bread

Toss cut up pilchards and burly pellets over the side

Depends what your fishing for also

Hey Smile,
I have a burley cage brand new never been used. I have never fished in a boat at the bay but about to :)
I will be chasing whiting Squid and Snapper. Happy in just chasing fish really.

I use multiple different type of burley dispensers, I use a bag with burley logs for surface burley I use a burley pot suspend it off the bottom and I use the device called secret weapon for putting burley on the bottom.
I use chicken pellets I also use ewe pellets they look like chicken pellets but are bigger mixed with tuna oil black and gold cat food tuna and pilchard and minced up old bait salmon etc. All of which take time to make you can buy premade burley.

Can't go wrong with chook pellets in tuna oil. I usually just put it in a home made PVC 80mm tube with end caps and tie it off the side of the boat to whatever depth I need.

Thinking of getting a cheap Kmart blender for discarded fish remains and what not and freezing them into logs

Do you put this out the back of the boat or do you have it weighted to the bottom.
Cheers
