When i'm not using an FG I tie a slim beauty, but that's only on leader 20lb and under. Outside of that weight range always FG.

Thanks all.
I've been using slim beauty, it has less chance of slipping but a much bigger/bulkier knot than FG or allbright. No issue for leader thinner than 30 lb. Sometimes when I'm lazy, I just use double uni, especially for thin leader line.

Yeah, I guess improved allbright or FG it is.

I used to use the Slim Beauty but was steered towards the Modified Albright. The MA is an easy one to pick up, and isn't too fiddly to tie in a windy and/dark environment.

As others have said. If you already have the slim beauty in your arsenal the only other knot you need is the FG.

Just set the knot after the first half hitch to fully cinch everything down prior to finishing your half hitches and trimming the leader tag. This stops a lot of issues

Improved Albright is the second thinnest knot (briad to leader).

Very quick and easy to tie even when rocking around on a boat.

Trim to about 1.5 millimetre on the leader side and should have no problem through most small guides
(can be even shorter if you can mushroom the tag end with a lighter)

Hi and welcome, nice first post.

Slim Beauty is a great knot but you end up with effectively 3 x the diameter of the leader.
I find Improved Albright 2 x the diameter of the leader and FG 1 x the diameter of the leader go through the guides better.

That's good to know, I will stick with the Improved albright, over 20 years of good service, like you said I find very easy to tie in all conditions and any line diameter.

At the end of the day the fish don't care.

Just make sure whatever you use tie it correctly..........................

Hey mate, same as this video. I only use 4 knots these days and mostly 3.
