Best knot for braid to fluoro??

Post by plasticfanatic » Wed May 15, 2013 4:47 pm

Hey everyone, just wondering what knots you all use for connecting braid straight to a fluorocarbon leader? I'm sick of getting swivels weeded and I'm sure tying direct will give a lot more feel through the line. I've read that the blood knot and double uni are popular. Tried the blood knot, I can tie it fine mono to mono but when I try braid to mono/fluoro it pulls apart when I pull to tighten. Any suggestions appreciated. Gotta get it right before heading to Apollo Bay!

Cheers!

The double uni knot is a great knot used by a lot of members for successfully tying braid to fluorocarbon leaders.

FG if you're skilled enough to tie it is the best braid/leader knot but it takes time and is hard to learn. The end result is the lowest profile braid/leader knot you can get though

Double uni if you want a fast braid/leader knot that is a bit clunky as there's a few turns in the mono

Slim beauty is the best I've found. Casts well. Small profile. Holds up well. Can tie within 90 seconds

Thanks lads. I'll practice a few of them and let you know how I go, sounds like double uni and slim beauty are the most popular. Sorry if this topic's been covered recently.

It is a good topic and IMO is still worthy of further discussion.

I am yet to find the perfect fluro to braid connection. There are pros and cons to each, slimer knots are generally weaker, FG works its way loose particularly with low diameter fluro ect or the stronger knots are too thick to fit through micro guides.
