Birdsland reserve tacoma

Post by Boza » Sat Aug 27, 2016 12:10 pm

I was wondering if birdsland reserve is worth fishing. On the website for the park it says you can do a spot of fishing but has anyone ever fished there

I've never fished there & there are no treads on this site about the area.
Take some worms & lures and give it a go.
It might be a new "secret" fishing spot.

Hope you do well

Found a tread "Eastern Melbourne Lakes".. August 2013
Says..carp, roach & redfin.
As it's a retardation basin, sure to have carp in it.

Happy Fishing

Yep, I went out there with SparkyUK once. Was chasing Carp but all I got was tiny Redfin on worms. Beautiful area and well worth a crack.

I've fished it with lures a few years back for naught. I've also seen people fishing there with course outfits and I was told by a dog walker they even have a fishing comp there! For some reason I thought there were trout in there but I can think why I thought that now. If it's like the other retarding basins / overflows in the area (Cardinia, aura vale) then carp, Redfin and eels should be about at the least. I've fished them all and seen massive eels but haven't had much luck catching anything. I reckon bait and patience might turn up something.

I fished there 20 years ago went i was a kid but never had any luck in the main pondages we always fishes the small creeks and found deep holes and only got rambow trout. 4 or 5 in a hr then head home. Released them all those days.
Used fresh worms from compost bin and old stlye soinner lures.

Things probably changed by now tho.
