There's not a lot of water out there, the Lerderderg river runs through town , there are trout and redfin there but finding a good spot might be hard, you would be better going to O'briens crossing

There's a lake at Trentham, not far by car
There might be a little deep water at the north end of the main street
Nugget creek on the old Blackwood road, may have some deep holes, but you'd need to wade the creek, as the sides are very steep. I haven't done it yet
Cheers Gra
Any gold you might stumble across is, half mine
Tower road, off Old Blackwood rd, leads to the top of Blue Mountain (4x4 & not when wet).
Good views & (my) Blue Mountain cemetery is near the top
If your keen, pm me, there's an easy 2wd way, but, it's bit complicated
Cheers Gra

Sorry for the late reply and being inactive I haven’t really had much time but when I was there I caught nothing but only got to go fishing around the caravan park
