Yarra river eltham - warrandyte
Hey Guys
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck fishing the yarra between fitzsimons lane bridge and warrandyte.
Have been over the weekend using aldi cheese and and scrub worms with no luck at all.
Any pointers for fishing that area are appreciated.
Cheers
Daniel

That is a long stretch of river. It depends of what you are targeting. I find the yarra to be hit and miss personally. Scrub worms and chicken being the best bait for me so far. Try find slow moving pools and cast near snags. Bait presentation also comes into play. Don't bunch up the worms on the hook. Make sure the tail makes plenty of movement in the water. Many parts of the yarra get over fished so keep that in mind. Try running sinker, try a with a float, float a worm out unweighted etc. Many methods work you just need to find the right one that works for the particular species you are targeting. Hope this helps even just a bit!

Yer as above, theres a lot of good spots in that stretch but all the easy places get fished hard. I fish it a bit ive found if we have rain wait at least a week

Thanks for the replies and tips.
I am targeting maccas redfin and cod. If i get a carp not really fussed anything is better than nothing.
I have been using running sinker with cheese and worms and have thrown some lures around.
Will try and present the worms better usually i just bunch it up on the hook.
Might go for more of a walk up the river near reynolds road.
Thanks guys

The harder to get to spots have always produced more for me. Reynolds Rd is a good start, as the long walk to the river puts many off, but then you can reach a decent stretch of water by walking either way. The further I've walked, the more fish I've caught.
That said, it can be very hit and miss depending on river conditions. I haven't quite cracked the code yet

Probably my most visited river! Never left without a cod (atleast) scrub use and mozzarella are my secret weapons as mentioned u gotta trek to the good spots! Anywhere where a pool is and some tree trunks is a good start! I generally use big hooks n big chunks of cheese to deter smaller cod decent carp around there too also caught on mozzarella
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!
