I have always been a Daiwa man, so I'll be interested to see how the new Shimano stacks up

Very smooth reel, I've got a 2500 as well and love it, they do have a slight 'whiring'' sound when wound in fast but you get used to it

not the 4000. I have 4000 and it is very smooth. yup the 2500 seems to be a bit noisy compared to the 4000

I fish with Daiwa reels of late , in the late 90's i used alot of Shimano reels when Daiwa dropped in quality & Shimano was a better reel . but of late IMO Shimano has dropped in quality & Daiwa's are great reels again .
But regardless your new reel looks great , enjoy it .

One of the local tackle stores had a 30% off lures sale recently so I picked up a few (not all pictured). The 'pink' one on the left and the Alburnus (silver) on the right. Pink is one of my favorite colors for trout but I usually use pink spinners. The silver one has done well for me before on trout and redfin. The one in the middle - Bleeding Olive Flash - I picked up a fair few of these at another store pretty cheap. I have never tried them before but they got a mention in this months Freshwater Fishing mag so I thought I would try them.
thanks
Jim

A Silver and a Gold Vibrax spinner to try on the trout as well as the Rapala 'Spotted Dog' pattern lures. I really don't know why I purchased these as I have 'painted' up the pattern before on 'Trout' colored lures and they haven't done anything exceptional but time will tell!

Thought I may get some of the larger models! $14.95 marked price minus 10% = $13.50 each which I don't think is too bad.
