What are the exact dates BM? I have a trip planned in November, but if the dates don't clash I'm very interested (I'll be finished my PhD by then and have lots of spare time before I start work). I meet all your criteria except I've never fired a firearm...but I'm a quick learner

If you get onto your local cop shop now you'd easily be able to get it by then.

Apply for firearms safety course. Generally you'll hear back within 4 weeks. Complete the course. Fill out the forms. Get ID certified. Take it to bank of melbourne to pay. Wait 4 weeks and you'll have your license.
