I don't find them all that good eating wise.
Sure you can eat them and they do taste ok but I certainly don't understand what all the fuss is.

rRe: Abalone season 2012-2013
Went diving today for some Christmas abs very poor there were plenty of them all under size after 2 hrs of diving only managed 4 size and I mean just size then a bus load of people from one of our northern country's turned up and were well under the 2 meter mark they could still stand up started collecting the bay is under too much pressure maby a total ban might be needed for a few year's to let them recover.

Whilst that may be a good idea, there are some who will totally ignore the ban and take what they want.andyk wrote:Went diving today for some Christmas abs very poor there were plenty of them all under size after 2 hrs of diving only managed 4 size and I mean just size then a bus load of people from one of our northern country's turned up and were well under the 2 meter mark they could still stand up started collecting the bay is under too much pressure maby a total ban might be needed for a few year's to let them recover.

Saw over a thousand yesterday, down in Lorne.
Hundreds of crays too but not as many big ones as I was hoping for.
Good dive overall though
