Post by Born2fish » Wed Feb 01, 2017 7:09 pm

Hey guys launched altona 1030 am this morning with a mate. Destination was eastern port Phillip bay was met by calm conditions light sw winds. So we had a plan 30 min on the squid then head sth looking for snapper or salmon we got to the cardinal marker between St kilda and bightion. Well in 30 min ish landed 12 squid between both of is then squid went quite I looked at the sounder and seen some massive marks. So I grabbed the jigging rod started jigging soon enough rod screaming
Short fight landed a big pike. We figured that's what shut squid down casting again yep another same for my mate so moved on. Cruzing down the bay we hit what we thought was a good school of fish Cast bang 30 cm pinkie we got a few and just as I was gonna sound we landed 4 good flattys in quick sessions. So I thought I'll continue the drift and sure enough mates rod buckles screaming lands a 2 kg snapper. Pretty happy with that I drop micro jig dosnt hit the bottom boom short fight 48 cm snapper. Fish shut down not long after we moved and found what we thought was salmon I flick a plastics rod screaming looking at my mate saying nooooo way it can't be vilont head shakes could not stop it on light gear. We said mmm kings rats? Looking at another boat next to us hooked up sure enough he lands a 30cm king we could not hook up any more trying for ages the moved we could not find em again and headed in.
Location ppb east ( rickets point /saint kilda)
Depth: 6m to 15m
Water temp: 20c
Method: plastics/ jigging / squidding
