Did fishos actually eat the fish caught there? Dunno that I'd be terribly interested in eating fish taken from water that's been circulating through a coal fired power station, and more or less under smoke stacks. Gotta die of something I guess tho...
I wouldn't eat fish out of there
Hazelwood pumped out 100's of 1000's of tonnes of "really bad stuff " per annum
There must be a clean way of using coal, we have virtually an unlimited supply

There is, it’s just really expensive

Victorian Fisheries Authority wrote:Get ready fishos. A new section of Hazelwood Pondage will officially open from 9am tomorrow! Feb 1st

Gippsland Water have permitted access to a 500m stretch of land, which runs alongside the pondage channel where the majority of barramundi now reside.

Some of these trophy fish are longer than a metre and they’re now easier to target than ever before!

These new access arrangements have been funded by our Target One Million plan, which aims get more people fishing, more often.

We’ve been carefully monitoring Hazelwood and can confirm that around 1500 barra have survived the winter and are now confined to the upper reaches of the channel.

They’re actively feeding again in the channel, which has reached 30 degrees, so anglers have a good chance of enticing a strike on a cast lure.

The improvements also include a road, fencing, signs and a new car park, all of which will keep Hazelwood a family friendly option.

To ensure the fishery provides year-round angling opportunities for people of all ages, we will continue to stock rainbow trout in winter. The release of bass fingerlings will also be considered.
