Night fishing from March to June has produced the biggest size whiting and bags for me on the southern end piers.
He who has the most fishing rods WINS ! :ts:

Bigger numbers are usually available between xmas and winter, which makes no sense as far as what VFA tell us. Am I missing something??
They're around. It's just like everything else, they slow down over the cooler months. I assume that's because the water temp slows their metabolism and reduces their energy consumption, and need for food.
Very true. However, the same could be said about snapper and it's well known that they are predominately migratory. I can't help but to feel VFA haven't quite got it right with the whiting lifecycle story we are being told.

They are, but the resident 'winter reds' become a lot harder to target too, with a very narrow bite window and tentative takes of the bait. You could use flathead as an example too, they aren't migratory but they do certainly slow down.

Firstly it’s good to see. But interested in how people have gone chasing the whiting in southern PPB particularly the Mornington peninsula side.

Last year had some ripper sessions. This year heard very little and donuts the 2 times I’ve targeted them. Good reports from the west in all the usual haunts though.
