Changes to yabby nets

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Years ago I set an opera house net hoping for a big catch of yabbies, the next day when I pulled the net out it was heavy and full of turtles and I never used one of them again.

I've only ever used opera house nets in dams on private property. I've only used the shrimp nets with the 1 and a half inch hole at each end in rivers, I find they collect more bait sized shrimp and yabbies because the bigger ones cant get in.

Cheers, Anth

In 40-50years years of using "shrimp traps" (like anth),
I've only caught 1 water rat ( of course I've caught shrimp and yabbies)

Here’s what will happen. Fisheries will grossly under calculate how many people will want the free nets. They’ll stock a few hundred at each shop. They’ll go in a few days and everyone will be crying to the tackle shop that they aren’t getting their free nets.

I’m half tempted to go buy half a dozen $3 opera house nets to get the better quality And more expensive new nets. Lol
