Yeah I may need some bigger gear and go chase them.

We all know what it was, but I'm not going to say it out of respect for how gutted you must have been. Next time with 30lb braid and 40lb leader ...?

Well I think with a 2-5 kg rod 15lb braid and 20lb leader I will get one in fairly easy. I mean if I had stronger leader on that day I could have got it in I think, would have taken a long time though haha. :water:

I reckon it was a mulloway once I hooked one there as well and it fully spooled me. Great vid by the way!

I used to believe that I could land them land based on light gear and 15lb line too ... I was wrong.

Fished there with a mate that used to live at the Grove years ago. Lots of big Mulloway, huge Eagle rays and unknown to a lot, a haunt of some serious big sharks. Stood on the old bridge many a night in the 90's fishing for the Jewies, caught a few, lost a lot :-D
But the amount of big grey subs that would cruise in on the in coming tide was jaw dropping. Saw plenty 6 to 10 footers. You could hook anything in that water at times. Most jewies would do a 30, 50 meter run and turn, do another, etc, bit less each successive run. The ones that kept motoring, would spool 200 plus meters I never believed were Jewies.
