Boat re-paint suggestions

Post by Kestrel » Sat Aug 04, 2018 5:24 pm

Hi guys

I'm looking to get my Barcrusher 560C repainted.

Dos anyone have any recommendations for an auto or marine painter who could assist?

I don't mind if I have to take the boat somewhere or if the person can do it with a spraygun onsite even better!

Cheers

Kestrel

Strip it and leave it bare. Atleast then you'll see any electrolysis and corrosion immediately. Plate boats look better bare and it's only a backcrusher

Depending on what you want painted, might be a good option to put a wrap on it....let your imagination go wild

if its only the sides that you want done...wrap it...

If its the top deck and sides...then look at painting... but it wont be cheap because its a huge job.

but even a decent wrap is a coupla thousand

Well clearly you're unhappy with the current paint job on an at worst 15 year old boat to want to spend thousands of a respray... Not to mention it's a point of difference going bare given every single backcrusher or surtees is painted. It's not some multi-million dollar super yacht with intricate airbrushed details in the paint, it's a run of the mill sheets of aluminum welded together boat...

I remember trade a boat used robaust (now WalZed) on their 19r rebuild. Might be worth a look up. If my memory serves me right Brendan Wing works there, he will know a thing or two about bar crushers!
