A special request

Post by smokin_reels » Sat Jun 01, 2019 11:23 am

Hey Guys!
My Mrs works as an OT\Carer and we have a long term client who is now a good personal friend of ours that has cerebral palsy.
One of her goals in life is to catch a fish and she knows that i dabble in that sort of stuff occasionally.
We were talking about how best to go about this and in order to make it as reel (pun intended) as possible , I am thinking using a an electric reel that has a button to wind in the line, would be the go, while being attached to a carp or a stockie.
The only problem is , I don't own one .
IF anyone in the northern suburbs does and is interested in a meetup, I can try organising something together.
Be a wonderful experience for her.

If anyone has any better ideas , shout em out.
I have faith in our rag tag bunch of mismatchs to put a smile on her dial.
She has "Catch a fish" on her bucketlist and I want to try and make this a nice experience for her.

Tight lines fellas! have a nice weekend .
There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.

Surely the VFA has programs for disability groups and therefore would have that kind of reel.
Snobb's creek (or similar) would be where to go
There is a Snobbs Creek angling club

I don't have anything to help you out but all the best with your endeavour, cheers davo :a_goodjob:
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

You can fish there & they hire out rods etc, just waiting to hear if they have an electric reel

Maybe use a crappy egg beater or drum reel with a cordless drill on the side

Eildon fish farm has closed down and has sold all it's stock, but there are others around like Buxton and Ballarat, I think a fish farm would be the best bet for a definite catch.

For some reason I find the idea of skull dragging a farmed trout with an electric deep drop setup funny as ****.

Hopefully someone can help you out with gear.

From memory there’s a trout farm near Warburton and another at Macclesfield.
