Healesville
Hi all
Heading up to Healesville these holidays for my dads birthday and I was wondering if there were any good rivers for lure fishing in the area? Does that section of the yarra hold anything? I'll probably go flick some sp's or small hardbodies in the streams nearby to see if theres any hungry reddies or aggressive blackfish but if not i'll probably just drown some worms.
Also, docklands or st kilda pier for this weekend? I cant decide where i want to try since port phillip bay landbased seems pretty slow at the moment.
Edit: edited due to myself having a massive brain fart and completely forgetting about the closed season
Cheers

Re: Healesville
There's little ornamental lake in Marysville that's stocked with trouts. Not too far from Healesville.
There's always breams in Docklands and can be caught all year round.
Not sure what's biting in st kilda. By luck there's probably aussie salmons.

Re: Healesville
Thanks for the help seb.
Bream at docklands are really finicky and seem to outsmart me consistantly, never seen one caught there first hand.
Wherever i choose to go ill chuck up a report afterwards. Hoping for pinkies or salmon.

Re: Healesville
Docklands breams on bait ain't too hard. Small bait, small hook small or no sinker.
But with lure is like 900 times harder. I have very bad record on Docklands breams on lures.
Whichever you choose, good luck! :water:

Re: Healesville
Mate, the Yarra and its tributaries are still open to fishing, you simply cannot take or attempt to take trout. You can still target the other species. Near Healesville, in order of abundance they are eels, carp, redfin, Macquarie perch, roach, trout, blackfish and Murray cod. The fishing will be slow under the cool conditions. Your best chance in the Yarra is bait for carp or lures for redfin. If you cross over the Blacks Spur the streams are closed to all forms of fishing.
Best Wishes

Re: Healesville
Yep I know the yarra is still open to fishing, the post was just geared towards trout fishing before I edited it seeing as i managed to forget about closed season, until rb85 made me aware of my mistake. Thanks for the advice though, I dont expect to do heaps of fishing, more bushwalking and exploring around but ill probably have a flick a couple times.Truedogz wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 5:22 pmMate, the Yarra and its tributaries are still open to fishing, you simply cannot take or attempt to take trout.
