Re: Show us your purchases!
I’m lucky in that way too. Have been going to my local for years and years and so if I buy a reel from them and the line there, I usually get them to spool it for me for free as well

Not sure if we are on the same page here LX but when I said free...I mean free! As in I didn't pay for the line!Lightningx wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 9:16 amI’m lucky in that way too. Re: Show us your purchases!
Very nice! Local stores have both the Ryoga and Calcutta Conquest...with varying opinions as to which one is better! Funny about that! Both of them have to be pretty good anyway! Did you check out both or were happy to go Daiwa? I think the Conquests are even pricier! So what lucky rod will carry this reel?!!!smokin_reels wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 2:00 pmBirthday gift to self.

Jim, they are both fantastic reels.
My reasons for picking the Ryoga,
- very compact. the equivellant conquest 300 is rather bulky(relative)
- Ive had a good run with both my current magsealed reels and i felt a little more confident in getting this for Kayak use.
- The reel is black, and not blingy gold.
- the biggest reason, there was an online sale that had them at 40% off
I got the 1520HL , because the left hand wind.
Its such a pocket rocket, even though it is the largest size.
Very blingy. Rod remains to be seen , but thats a problem for the next credit card statement .
There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.

Re: Show us your purchases!
Just the one time the line was free LX! From the few I have had done, I would guesstimate the cost may be about 2/3 of what I would have to pay if I got a 150 metre spool and did it myself. It is so much easier when they do it as you don't have to worry about how much backing you need.Lightningx wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 3:12 pm.........

Re: Show us your purchases!
Sooooo...me thinks you should send the reel to 'the Bug' to have it fitted out to a 6 cyl, diesel perkins!smokin_reels wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 2:00 pmBirthday gift to self.
