Might be an odd one, but cut a lemon in half and scrub with lemon before washing..

Plus one for lemon juice, and wash with cold water to prevent opening up the shin pores at all.....

Interesting. Lemon juice seems to be the go.
Might give it a try next time!
Cheers

I quoted these posts from a "smelly hands" thread.

Lemon is an awesome fruit and has Magic properties , , , , well , , , , maybe, let's say , , , , some good properties. On that thread, it highlights how well lemon is great for cleaning smelly hands.

It can even be at a dinner and faced with a plate of Prawns to peel and scoff down. The lemon wedge is a great way to "after" rub the Prawn smell out of your fingers, without having to wash , , , , just a rub with the lemon then a wipe with a paper towel :a_goodjob:

But lemon is such a versatile product. (Although I use hand-cleaner to wash my hands) I do use lemon in many other ways too.

I have a Lemon Tree, so I do use them liberally. AND Eureka Lemon Trees are my choice. They fruit most of the year, if you manage it properly. And they are a nice sized juicy fleshy lemons.

* It is a great way to get fishy smells (and any other smells) out of Chopping boards, knives etc without using chemicals.

* Lemon is a great substitute for vinegar in food , , , , a squeeze of lemon instead of a splash of vinegar for Salads, steamed veggies.

* A great way of freshening up water containers that have, over time, got that stale plastic taste about them. Also a great way of making water that little more fresher/refreshing by a squeeze of lemon. Not enough to make it lemon flavour but more to just take the bland edge that water gets sometimes

There are many ways lemon has helped Man & Woman Kind.

All hail the Lemon

Great post bug! :P
I too have a lemon tree in the backyard! Has come in handy many times when I or the missus cook up some fish that we have caught. Whether it be crumbed or battered, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice on top always tops it off!
Cheers

You have too much time in your hands, Bugz.

I remember hay carting for my Uncle Roy, a lot of years ago
Aunty Clare would bake biscuits, cakes etc in the combustion stove & bring it out into the paddock with a large pot of black tea & lemon (tea leaves in).
Funny how they always seemed to cut hay when we were there (mum, dad & 4 boys)
If you haven't worked in hay seed infested socks, for 3 days, you haven't lived.
Cheers Gra

Wow Graham, what great memories.

You and your brothers are very fortunate, to have an Uncle & Auntie in the country and who were real country folk , , , , fresh baked goods, hot tea & lemon IN the field , , , , and a combustion stove just yells yum

Great post, thanks Tex
