ferntree gully quarry

Post by ChrisD » Sun Jun 16, 2019 1:51 pm

Decided to go check out Ferntree gully quarry this afternoon, after the recent stocking.
Two points to start -
*Well done Fisheries on stocking another suburban lake with Natives and trout - great work, looking forward to seeing which lake is next and just how many they end up doing.
And
*it was great to see how many families and kids were taking advantage of the freshly stocked lake.

Downside -
Parking is shocking. There is only about 15 dedicated parking spots for the lake, the rest is in nearby side streets....and they were packed.
Would have to say if the hype continues the locals are likely to be unimpressed with so many people parking in the side streets.

I had a bit of a walk from where I parked to the lake.
And on arrival and seeing how many people were fishing I decided not to bother. Too crowded for my liking.
Spoke to a few people - no one had caught anything but had, had bites.

Might try again in a few weeks - it may be quieter then.

Thanks for the information Chris
Maybe a note to VFA & the local council about the situation
Council & VFA may be able to work out a solution (target 1 million).
Cheers Gra

It was always going to be popular, I just hope that when fish are caught regulations are followed, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

I read on one of the social medias pages that one of the big rainbows was caught and released without harm. Might give it a crack Thursday arvo time and weather permitting.
