26/11/19 Yarrambat Park Lake & Yarra River
Went for another session today with a mate, starting off at Yarrambat Park Lake around 11am. While we got a few bites fishing scrubbies and powerbait on the bottom, we kept missing the strike and eventually packed it in after 2.5 hours of wind and rain. I had a feeling we were getting picked off by little reddies but the bites were sporadic so we eventually grew impatient. We then fished a slow, sluggish section of the Yarra around Templestowe/Eltham where my mate landed a carp around 30cm in length around 3:30. I got the odd nibble but pulled up donuts this time around. The fishing still seems pretty hit and miss, I'm desperately hanging out for that warmer weather.

Carp does nibbly bites too btw. They suck in and spit out within seconds before they decide to eat the whole lot, swallow and swim away.
Well done btw. How was the water? Super dirty and fast?

Yarrambat was stocked again recently with rainbow trout - you may find that the scrub worms were a bit big for them and they were picking at them.
I can't agree more on waiting for the warm......and dry weather.......

We fished upstream of Fitzsimons Lane bridge and the water was its usual sluggish, brown self.

As in muddy milo brown?
Was thinking to go to yarra on Sunday, but probably not worth going if it's chocolate brown. Says gonna rain today and tomorrow, might make it worse.

Not as dark as chocolate brown around the area I mentioned, the rain this weekend might change that though.

Anyone fished at Yarrambat recently? I have been 3 times and have not even gotten one bite. I was using worms and powerbait on a running sinker rig and I also casted a spinner around. Any tips would be appreciated!

Fisheries have realeased 600 rainbow trout there this week for the school holidays and the kids to catch but as expected a certain minority of people (older generation)think it is all about them and normally proceed to catch and keep as many fish as possible every day until there is nothing left. I have rang Fisheries a couple of times over the years but nothing has happened.GregExplores wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 4:31 pmAnyone fished at Yarrambat recently? Damn, that really sucks . I'll still probably go down and have a try this weekend or sometime during next week and hopefully all the trout haven't been fished out yet!Boonanza wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 7:42 pmFisheries have realeased 600 rainbow trout there this week for the school holidays and the kids to catch but as expected a certain minority of people (older generation)think it is all about them and normally proceed to catch and keep as many fish as possible every day until there is nothing left.
