Easy Access Fishing Spot North Of Melbourne

Post by Charlie8003 » Wed Dec 04, 2019 7:48 am

Hi All, I have promised to take my 89yo father out on Sunday for a spot fishing in hope of landing one of his favorites the Yellowbelly!

Planning on heading somewhere between Tallarook & Nagambie, as hes is not the most agile (mind you hope I can still get around at 89) can anyone recommend any EASY access points in this area which will not require massive amounts of walking?

Any tips greatly appreciated

There's a couple of guys on here with a lot of experience fishing some of the channels out there who also do quite well.

Yellowbelly has been reported few times at Nagambie lake. Easy access. There's redfin and cod there too. Use worms or yabbies close to sunrise or sunset. Good luck!

Yup. Any access to the Goulburn river and the lake system is good for fishing. Set a bait net too to get some freshwater prawn, good bait for yellowbelly.

Kirwins bridge between nagambie and Goulburn weir, there is an access area down a track on the left near the right hand bend in the road before you get to the bridge. Can take the car down to parking area at waters edge without having to get the old fella to walk down steepish access tracks. Cast into main channel. Lagoon on left is only about a meter deep.
