Garfish Frankston.

Post by Irishfisherman » Thu Jul 23, 2020 6:56 pm

Headed out with my old man off Frankston yesterday afternoon hoping for some garfish. At first we planned to see what was around so after sounding up a few fish we dropped the anchor. We managed a couple of pinkies and a banjo before I caught a strange looking eel and after a bit of research I found out it was a short head worm eel, a very skinny, slimy, snake like eel that made a menace of itself and tangled up the line. Afterwards we made our way towards Seaford to try and net some garfish. There were plenty around but many of them were deeper than usual, however, the competitive nature of fishing this way meant that we soon had our bag. We ended up with about 50, enough for a few meals and bait.

Yes, they are spooked easily when it’s not dark.
