Re: When can Metro Melbourne go fishing again?
I still remember riding a bike along St Kilda during stage 3 and seeing packs of people completely ignoring social distancing crammed along the pier blazing loud music. And that wasn't even snapper season. I don't blame them for extending the restrictions and particularly the curfew. The instant curfew goes, the same people who'll cast over your line and bring 4 rods to piers where the rule is 2, will pack every pier in the city all night. Unless cases are low, that's a time bomb waiting to explode.
The smart way would be to keep piers and other high density fishing spots closed at first and opened later when its safer. This way, safer forms of fishing such as fishing the rivers, streams, and beaches or just via a boat can happen. The other option would be to keep the curfew but allow fishing. Ive never seen a policeman or fisheries people at night. If fishing was daytime only, at least the idiots who cramp up the piers will be dealt with by police.

Correct... however some people think that because they are ALLOWED to use 4 lines, then they SHOULD be using 4 lines. Even when there is clearly not enough room.cobby wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 8:21 pmUmm... Common sense goes a long way, but unfortunately its not always all that common.

Hypothetical, when I get to fishing location first n setup up my 4 rods, then later on when more people arrive I should not use 4 rods.SteveoTheTiger wrote: ↑Sat Sep 19, 2020 10:35 amCorrect... however some people think that because they are ALLOWED to use 4 lines, then they SHOULD be using 4 lines. Re: When can Metro Melbourne go fishing again?
If it was me, i would try to make room for other people and bring in 2 lines. But only if there is clearly nowhere else for them to go and i am taking up a massive portion of the available area with my 4 lines.
Maybe i am the wrong person to comment tho as i am pretty much 100% a boat fishermen and if i do happen to fish from land i tend to only bring 1 or 2 rods anyway.

Unfortunately lot of arrogant and sometimes so called local fishermen who think they own the pier.
