Time to pack up and move out of Metro Melb then?
That won't help you I'm not in Melbourne and locked in my house!
Seriously though we need to get to the 80% target and then try to get back to something approaching normality.
If that happens we will be able to say in hindsight we saved a lot of lives at some cost. But then we will have to accept that the disease is here to stay, will pose ongoing challenges and there will be deaths just as there are from influenza.

But going forward most lockdowns generally happen in Melbourne and will continue to do so. I’m planning to get out in the next 3 years regardless of covid but lockdown after lockdown just make it a no brainer.

Never thought I'd say it, but QLD is looking pretty good (Covid hates warm weather, but the fish love it

That’s true, plenty of these joints in Victoria as well. Gippsland is extremely affordable in my opinion.

So how much longer is it going to be for?!?
Forever. Lambda is so much worse than delta, supposedly... Gemini variety will come along that's a wildly super infectious beast that kills everything it touches. Then Sigma will arrive, and it's Megatron in virus clothing. Oh and Zeta will arrive, it'll be so bad, it creates a zombie apocalypse by transferring brain function to the bronchial tubes and slowly rotting the body away. Soon there'll be covid mutation #1984930 and that'll knock homo sapiens out completely.
Or we can sit down, realise everything has some degree of risk regarding lifelong dangerous health conditions or death, get the **** over the largely small chance covid may do something to you just like everything else can and actually live whatever life you have left....
Don't forget the Ligma and Sugma strain

Missus recently said she's happy to explore the idea of moving to QLD too.. I could happily settle my ass down on the sunshine coast.

The big risk comes perhaps next year when political leaders don't realise covid is here to stay. What works now, which has saved lives, may not be applicable to the future.
Risk? Victoria will perpetually be in and out of some form of strict covid lockdowns until such time as Labor are voted out, someone seriously snaps and performs a Port Arthur on Spring St, or whatever federal government is in power at the time cuts the state off the teat and the state collapses in a microsecond. There is not one shred of evidence from the past 18 months from Andrews that suggests this state will ever be in a position where the population just lives with it. The only fleeting moment we could have had would have been the break occurring higher up beyond the spinal column fatally affecting a vital organ. Atleast Merlino is somewhat tolerable
