Went to test the Pinwheel rod and Scorpion BFS. First trip on them. Went to Vic Central Highlands, dirty water everywhere we went due to heavy rain we had.
Then I thought, rising water level, rain, sounds like good idea to put on worm like plastic.
My mate had his 2.5 inch ajing worm plastic and I put on zman grub bloodworm, 2g jig head.
No trout but landed these reddies. They gotta be one of the best freshwater eating fish, so we took them home for the Mrs. And yes, their guts full of earth worms.
Hopefully the rain will slow down and will start looking river trout.
My mate with his catch, biggest fish of the day.

Re: Central Highlands lake
Thanks.
Yeah it was fun.
When I found out about BFS, I thought it would be the same as baitcasting for cod/yellas, just way lighter gear and lures.
But nah, it's different.

Re: Central Highlands lake
How is the new BFS going, are you getting enough distance on 2 gram lures? how's the bird nest problem? In what way is it different, you know I'm contemplating getting one. Those reddies would have been great fun on the pinwheel

Re: Central Highlands lake
I can manage 15-20m casting 2g, with the right condition.Seniorfisho wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 9:55 amHow is the new BFS going, are you getting enough distance on 2 gram lures? how's the bird nest problem? The birdnest stuff is all about practice. Knowing how when, observe wind direction, how much power, educating the thumb, etc.
Just like fly fishing, it feels diff and satisfying just making good casts.
More connections, more feels, etc.
I don't know how to describe it, but basically there's distinct satisfaction in comparison to just flogging lures with spin outfit.
