In need of some guidance.

Post by Piglet77 » Wed Jan 02, 2019 5:59 pm

Hi all,

I haven't been active in the fishing scene for the past few years due to work etc. I have now managed a few days off and dying to get onto some fish. I am looking at landbased within 2 hours of Melbourne and saltwater.

Checking my diaries I have done well landbased for gummies around Werribee South (my home ground) late Feb / March but been very quiet before then.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys

Are you trying to target something in particular or just after some action?

That's my challenge at the moment, I am not sure what is active at the moment. In saying that I do like to target larger fish. Was thinking a night beach session chasing gummies.... but no idea where to start

Start with finding a place to catch live/fresh bait.

I managed to score charter based in the North part of the bay this morning. Nothing of note... few tiny flathead and an undersized pinkie. Full credit to the captain who worked hard to put us on to fish.. unfortunately no luck.

Probably not the best day for it

Plenty of whiting in action at the moment. Good thing is, you can fish off a pier or beach. No need to spend money on a fishing charter.
Fish off a beach around Sommers or Balnarring. Circle hook 1/0 and some pipis are all you need.
Went there two weeks ago, a lot of bites at sunset. King George whiting.

Just a quick update, my grand plans of a long session haven't eventuated yet, but I have had a couple of quick sessions around Werribee South. Massive amounts of micro pinkies, and not much else. Still nice to get out. Might have another crack tomorrow night
