Winter kayak attire.

Post by rb85 » Tue Apr 16, 2019 7:32 pm

Coming into the colder months I plan on continuing to use my kayak there’s a lot of guys here who are experienced kayak anglers. What do you guys wear to keep warm and dry when launching and in case you unfortunately fall off?

A wetsuit would protect you from cold water but would be too hot if out of the water.

Cheers

Wetsuits are not meant to keep you entirely dry. Neoprene is made of small closed cells that are filled with air which provide insulation against cold water by trapping heat in. The thicker the suit's neoprene, the warmer the suit will be because it has more heat-trapping insulation.

Jacket too if you can afford them.

look at polypro thermals, they stay warm if wet, layered lightweight fleeces etc.
