lightning strikes in the area as the storm went thru today, 4 spots on ridge above the ovens between bright and harrietville (smoko-freeburgh) same as last hotham fire beginnings. 7 CFA crews out, put it out right smart < 1hour. good onya CFA.

i'd be more concerned that this could resurrect the rivalry between DSE and DPI. At least when both are in one department you had one dep sec ruling the roost. admitedly is can be a bit schizoprenic, but in separate departments it does become a power play between the depts and their policies, which ...

there is a reason they are cheap. in kayaks you really get what you pay for. this one is only suitable for flat water without load and close to launch - e.g. yourself without lots of gear (check the total safety weight) and on a local pond or estuary where it is calm and you don't have to paddle it ...

You can fish HB lures at the inlets into Rotorua lake. Best 6am open till early morn or dusk up til midnight closing. Mind you, I fish a fly there, and after a few trips you work it out, at least 4 per hour on average.. The guys using lures still killed me, though.

Its on the bay side on the way to nobbies and just before cowrie which is the next bay along. Hss a small surf beach just below the carpark, quiet inlet, rocky point on the right. In the penguin zone.

Yep, Gav is a great guy and a fantastic host. The guys in the shop are very down to earth and real , all are very good anglers.
