Re: Kmart Rods and Reels
Kmart used to have good stuff like Berkley and Penn. But now its a reject shop. The only good things now are Berkley soft plastics and jig heads. The rest like rods n reels are rubbish.

Re: Hi from Macedon Ranges
Hi mate. You should have a crack at the fresh too. Jacksons Crk and upper sections of the Maribyrnong river, think i spelt it right, are good trout waters. If you can get on to some sections of the private from Wild Wood and Bulla you may be surprised. As a kid I caught some great trout there.

Re: Trout rivers around Geelong
Yep, agree with the Moorabool, mate from Geelong who used to live there fished the upper regions of it. Was a few years ago now but got trout up to a couple of pounds using crickets, grasshoppers and mudeyes under bubble floats. Was very good for eels too.

Laanecoorie Res
Hi guys, went out for a look at Laanecoorie Res today. Usually good for reddies and yellows, mostly reds. But nah, before I even pulled up you could see a mass of green algae all around the bank stretching out into deeper water. Total disappointment. We have had just recently some good rain in the l...

Re: Exclusive Shimano Rods
A year ago I got a little Skakespeare Slingshot Engage ultra light for sixty bucks to flick around light soft plastics. It's been a great little rod for that. Nice feel and action. Admittedly went through about 10 they had in the shop, holding them out in front of me to check the blanks were straigh...

Re: garfish season
Love garfish. My dad taught me to fish for them when I was a kid in Melbourne. We used quil floats with little long shank hooks and little bits of squid. We used to catch heaps around web dock. To cook them we would lay them gut section down on a board and roll them with a rolling pin breaking the b...
