Surf at Bunga beach
I fished the Lake Bunga surf beach last Monday afternoon, using Halco chrome "Twisty" lures, 30 gm. Started casting just east of the lake and had 5 salmon on my first 5 casts. The problem was they were all between 20-30 cm long. The school of fish must have been huge, as we caught a fish or had a hi...

Re: WEEDY WHITING
Well I visited Fraser Is again yesterday with half a dozen a bit larger keepers and a nice Flathead. The catch (and release) of the day though was a 30cm bright blue Weedy Whiting - amazing colour! Wow never seen one before Though they look like a whiting, they are actually a member of the wrasse f...

Walking the dogs there tomorrow arvo so will check it out then. Would be no surprise to find it empty as the visitin...

Re: Surf report from Bunga Beach
Carlito, you could be right mate. I use a N.Z. app which I usually find is close to the mark. I've frequently used it on different salmon just to test the accuracy, and more often than not it is in the ball park. I must say this fish was fairly "streamlined", so quite possibly closer to 2.5 kg. I ga...

Re: Surf report from Bunga Beach
Where is bunga beach If you are coming through Lakes heading east, you come out of the town heading up the big hill. Just over the hill, first turn on your right (Bunga Beach Rd). Follow to the carpark at the end of the road, and follow the track alongside the lake straight onto the beach. Not even...

Re: Surf report from Bunga Beach
Interesting upgrading the drag washers :tu: :tu: The original drag washers in the Stradic were a soft felt material, which while they worked well enough, did not last very long. Bought a set of carbontex drag washers for about $15. Very easy to change over, and got a real work out yesterday. They n...

Re: Surf report from Bunga Beach
Sounds like an absolute beauty that salmon. The missus and I got onto a big bust up yesterday from the boat and had a ball as well with many taking plenty of line on light gear! Cheers 👍🏻 Sounds like a great bit of sport. In my opinion, pound for pound they are right up there with the best of them....
