Re: How do you prepare your whiting for the table?

If you want the cutting edge of ideal fish preparation. - Ikajime them immediately upon catching - a pointy screwdriver or similar through the brain. Bleed too ideally, through the neck. - Gut them quickly. - Keep them on or near ice but don't get them wet after you've pulled them outta the water. -...

Re: Show us your purchases!

Howdy folks, My new bag arrived after much waiting (I think like two or three months even?) Corona slowed things down. It's a Tsurinoya fishing bag from good ole Aliexpress. I have been going on about Ali on a few threads. Sometimes I am just after cheaper gear, but in this case it's the only place ...

Thanks Seb, very helpful. As you said, not planning on going anywhere bananas to start with so that should do me.

Re: Battery Bank. Buyers Guide.

Hey mate, seconding the Xiaomi recommendation. I have had three or so (all still going strong - a couple for work and travelling, handed one to my wife). They have kept me steady for years now. Great build quality, size, connections, and charge. I prefer the 10,000 ones as mentioned above - super po...

Re: Basic kit for a Kayak

One other question I had - does anyone take out any other safety gear for close-to-shore trips? E.g. beacons or anything?

And what is the preferred type of dry bag. When I go wading I just put my phone in a ziplock which seems to do the job.

Re: Basic kit for a Kayak

Thanks for the tips everyone. Bit early for me to be looking at sounders and all that - I am just keen to get on the water safely and cheaply using what I have to begin with. I think I will pick an easy spot and give it a go. If I really take to it, I'm sure I'll end up going all in and decking out ...

Re: Basic kit for a Kayak

Looks like a good little kayak. Perfect for inshore and yes maybe in the bay on shallow water and calm day. There isn't much space, so keep it simple and minimize everything, good for catch and release. Might be a bit tricky to take some fish home (where to put the fish). If you're comfortable to r...

Basic kit for a Kayak

Hey crew, I should be banned from this forum as I'm still back in SA and having a good time fishing. My parents moved out of their place and lo and behold, I rediscovered a kayak I used to zip around on as a teenager. It's one of these Australis Squids, I think it is the 3m model: https://www.outdor...

Re: 'Ajing' Ultra-light rod?

https://isofishinglifestyle.com.au/products/daiwa-gekkabijin-ajing Any thoughts on this? They also sell a similarly-priced 'JS Company' rod but I'm unfamiliar with that brand, and can't find any reviews (of the aji offering specifically) online. Hey Chris, just saw your posts on the FB Ajing group ...

Re: UL Reel and line tangle problems!

Great that you had some success and as far as it being a "Monster", well , , , , a little "re-do" of the photo can easily fix that :-D Some of those Coles "mini" things might be worth having in your Tackle Bag for "enhancing" fish sizes in photos :-D Cheers, Bugs :rf: :rf: Too funny mate. You are r...
