Re: Grass whiting
Thanks Sebb - didn’t occur to me that I could soak them in tuna oil but that’s a good idea. I’ll give it a shot

Grass whiting
G’day all, I’ve managed to find a local jigging spot that is producing an abundant supply of grass whiting. I’m not keen on them as table fish but I’m wondering whether they can be successfulLy used as fresh bait for other species. I’ve heard of blokes using them on squid prongs - anyone tried them ...

Re: Tips for Barwon river reddies?
I've got a few hard lures in the kit - will have to break them out next time I'm down there!happyfriggincamper wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 8:45 pmI've moved to Geelong recently myself and had some successful sessions on the Barwon trolling HBs of about 70mm that dive 2-3m where you mentioned. Pretty cruisy fishing

G’day all, I’ve moved to Geelong about a year ago and had a had bit of success with land based fishing around Corio bay. Keen to have a go at chasing redfin perch As it’ll be slightly easier to mange with the kids, closer to home etc. Anyone got some locations that they wouldn’t mind sharing? So far...

Re: Land based structures at Point Henry
Cheers guys. Sounds like more trouble than it’d be worth so I’ll give it a miss. Would be fantastic if they opened the warf to land based fishers, thing goes out a long way.

Land based structures at Point Henry
Anyone know if there are legally accessible structures for land based fishing out at Point Henry? Not much out there but seems like it could be an okay spot for when the Geelong waterfront gets packed out. Some of kayak launching spots look okay but might waders or beach setup to get out past the ed...

Re: Salmon on the bite
$1600 fishing trip has got to hurt. Could’ve done a cracking private charter for if he’d waited a few weeks! Definitely been a bit crowded down there over the last couple of weeks but I’ve just moved further on if there’s more than one or two out. Hasn’t been too hard finding a quiet spot so far. Pi...

Btw: Soft plastics grubs, motor oil. Other blokes down there we’re doing well on big metal lures.

Running hot down at North Shore about an hour ago. My son & I just stopped by for a look but had rods in the car. The water was boiling with them, so had to get amongst it. Young fella landed one at 45cm
