Re: Dad Found Fish!
Always a great day fishing with the old man... Most hardbodies usually work well here. But I'd say the daiwa double clutch. Atomic shiners, various rapalas in similar shapes would be the best. There's plenty more that work ofcourse. Just depends on personal.preference... Targeting bass (Australian ...

Dad Found Fish!
I don't know how similar angling for Australian bass is to Large Mouth bass over here but I thought the forum might appreciate this one. I finally got the father unit out from in front of the TV. He told me in the car he found it amusing that he was the one teaching me how to fish when I was a kid, ...

Re: Is this too specific?
odd bloke 😂 Bit of uniqueness never hurt anyone. Reminds me of Bugatti I think you nailed it, you said what some people got in their head. I wonder how he's doing. The point being (as light heartedly...and oddly... as I could put it) this setup would be made in such a way that I could adapt it to a...

Re: Is this too specific?
If your main focus is the surf over here just go with 9 foot. It’s the ideal length to be throwing the slugs etc needed to punch the distance and aswell as dealing with fish in the surge. But yes an egi rod will do everything else. I used one flat out Landbased lure fishing for a couple of years. 7...

Re: Is this too specific?
It's been a while since I was looking for a rod similar to this but the best thing I found for it was japanese seabass rods. In a lot of the ranges for landbase seabass fishing there is a lighter shorter model somewhere around the 8'6 length with a cast weight similar to what you are chasing design...

Re: Is this too specific?
Do yourself a favour and buy fishing gear when you actually get here. Transporting an 8ft rod when moving your life overseas is probably the last thing you need to worry about. Tackle while not as cheap as the states is not very expensive here. Plenty of options to choose from and lots of advice fr...

Is this too specific?
There doesn’t seem to be that many options for 8’ rods. I’ve looked at a lot of 8’3”-8’6”. They varied greatly in line class and casting weight. More often than not they lean into the heavy category. From my handful of attempts at fishing from the surf I always felt that a 7’ rod was usable but not ...

Re: Rod Length Etiquette?
I've used 14 Foot surf rods off piers before and never had issues with other fishos, depending on what your after and the condition of the location you'll need certain rod lengths to tackle the fish. What I find anoying are those big long squid poles everyone spread out at Queenscliff pier, they ha...
