Re: Bar crossing goes wrong
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gt1P6IXSKpE Lucky escape, and gets away with it just the on the 2nd attempt. Coming back in the Western Entrance to Western Port bay, can be interesting, unlike most of the videos, the Western Entrance is fairly long. Coming back in, one day the waves were about 2 me...

Re: Bar crossing goes wrong
Yeah, Bugatti, you have it. It showed he was inexperienced. An inexperienced person should not use a day like that to gain experience. They should go on flat days until they learn how to setup and drive their boat over bars. If the waves are breaking where you want to go and it is your first or one...

Re: Bar crossing goes wrong
Some people may laugh but the Patterson River entrance into Port Phillip bay is classified as a bar. In certain conditions, decent size waves can be present at the entrance. For example, if there has been a bit of rain and large volumes of water are flowing out of the Patterson River with an outgoin...

....... Not only do some Plillies just fly off and become berley instead of bait , , , , they are that soft (even with half hitching the tail) that one tap from an inquisitive fish and they are off the hook, both the Pillie and the now grateful fish. It's a pain seeing a nibble and knowing there is...

Re: Sardines - are they as good as pilchards?
Hi folks, my local wholesale butcher has IQF sardines for $11kg and I buy them to give to my dogs once or twice a week in their dinner. (Omega 3 oils etc - they absolutely LOVE them and crunch down on them as the first thing they eat from the bowl) BUT the thing I want to know is what do you reckon...

Re: Topping up the fuel
Got caught 2 weeks ago, headed down to Sorrento, with the prices on the way down I thought Woolies at Rye would be the same as Woolies at Frankston, except they weren't and it added about another 30 bucks to the cost of fuel.

Topping up the fuel
Seeing that a long weekend is almost upon us, the routine price rise of fuel is beginning to occur. My plans in the next 2 weeks are to head out in my boat when weather permits, so I decided to top up the fuel tank, plus the jerry cans, hoping for a break in the weather and a chance to head out the ...

Sick of this wind
Boy am I sick of this wind, it has been strong enough to blow the dog off of the chain.
Luckily I covered the boat, before all this wind or else I would have been blown into tomorrow trying to put the tarp over the boat.
more puns about the wind. Please

Re: Do you read fishing books/magazines?
Danny De Ditto on a lot of the points made. They are interesting to read but have waned with interesting and relevant content of recent years. In addition: Here in South Australia, there aren't many mags focused on SA. And once you get past the basics of "rig, bait etc" , , , , they aren't helpful ...

Re: Do you read fishing books/magazines?
I went to a tackle shop two weeks ago looking for AFN's Freshwater Magazine and they said they don't sell them anymore, not many people buy/do that anymore. I went to a news agent instead and got it. Then a thought came to my mind (mind you I'm 34 yo), with internet and all, do fishos still read bo...
