Re: Anyone pre-rig their Soft plastics?
I pre-rig mine and a lot of people do too. Upside is you can put a dab of glue on the top to keep the SP from sliding down the hook. Downside is storage, certain SPs will melt if it touches plastic (zmans) and gulp dries out. I wrap my pre-rigged SPs in a bit of kitchen paper towel.

Re: Crabbing at Lake Entrance
Oh and cut up the crabs before putting them in. At least lift off the top. But keep the roe inside the head, that's where all the flavour is! Season with salt (cracked pepper and cheese optional) to taste. You can do this with the European shore crabs too. They have hard shells and it's hard to pick...

Re: Crabbing at Lake Entrance
Lightly fry garlic (a lot) and tomatoes, add crabs, then drizzle with white wine, olive oil (be generous on the oil) and top with basil for a beautiful seafood pasta sauce. Add in other seafood like mussels and prawns with the crab

Re: I need a solution to a soft plastic fishing problem
If you are just after flatties, then simple solution is slide a ball sinker above the jig head or use a running sinker rig. I used to do this with mono and it works, I still do it in the boat to get the SP down faster, the only downside is you won't get many other species. Except maybe salmon if you...

Re: I need a solution to a soft plastic fishing problem
Use lighter braid. I used to have the same problem trying to cast with mono line. Switched to braid (15lb - coz I didn't know any better) and instantly casting distance went up heaps. Then I went down to 8lb and I can confidently say that casting distance has doubled vs mono.

Re: Lures for pike
What kind of retrieve do you use for pike? I accidentally caught one landbased on a piece of chicken on a running sinker rig, so I made the switch to a 2.5 inch sp grub and just twitched it on the surface, only to catch a big ~40cm mullet. Yes you heard right, a mullet, on a sp off the surface, defi...

Re: How to find carp spots
Next time I see a carp on the surface I'm definitely trying a piece of unweighted bread. It's hard to get much casting distance though without squeezing the bread into a ball.

Re: How to find carp spots
What do you guys look for in a carp spot? Where I've found carp, the water doesn't need to be too deep but at least deep enough to not be able to see the bottom. During the lockdown Cam and I scouted a local lake that we didn't know existed until we saw it in a real estate ad. Probably 15m x 40m, 3...
