Nice one mate ~ how deep are you fishing, and are you right on fishies beach or a little further south?
Had a crack yesterday with no luck around the mussel farm area.

Re: Kayak Reds
Appreciate all the tips guys - didn't realize the water was so warm already but the heatwave will do that hey. Guess I'll head out further to one of the outer buoys of the farm and give that a go. Might also switch over to some worm style plastics and perhaps target whiting at the same time. With my...

Kayak Reds
Have been hitting the water with the new kayak recently, but haven't had any luck chasing reds. So far I've mainly been fishing around fisherman's beach + the mussel farm around mornington. Does anyone have any suggestions in that area for a kayaker to head to, and also some advice on what I should ...

Re: Rye
If you're willing to travel a little - head to the grass beds towards Sorrento. But plenty of whiting in the grass beds in that area ~ you'll just need to do a bit of searching.
Not sure about Snapper at this time of year though.

Re: Shelter from W/SW Winds
Went out today and got two squid. Weather was actually ok - lots of sail boats around though. Good day to just familiarise myself with the yak. Looking forward to the next session!

Shelter from W/SW Winds
Will be taking the yak out for its maiden voyage on Saturday, but unfortunately the forecast isn't too great. Don't mind a bit of a spray, but want to get some shelter from the wind whilst I put it through its paces. Not a novice kayaker, but not a superhero on the water either so will be stick fair...

Re: PPB scallop locations?
Gday mate, the boats are crazy this time of year that's for sure. If you are willing to drive down to mornington pier and to the left hand side when looking out at the bay. Well let's just say keep this one under your hat  hey mate - old thread but curious about this spot. how deep does i...

Give this a watch so you get an idea of what/how things are prepared. Gives you an indication of the types of fish that are being used, and then you can go ahead and draw some comparisons between the fish he's got there and what we have available here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoktpjjCLdM In ...

Re: Splurged on a yak
Congrats! Like mazman mentioned, check a nice calm low wind day, say 15kmh or less. Get all the safety stuff too. Very important. Someday this summer I will practice re-entry. I've fished fisherman's beach couple times on my yak, a good spot to fish on a yak, no need to travel too far off the beach...
