Just watching the water temps, hoping to get the yak out next few days.
Although a bit sceptical about snapper in numbers, looking forward to the first outing this season

Re: 2023 Snapper Season
Fished Altona from the kayak last night with 7 others, no decent models caught just small pinkies. I Picked up a salmon and snotty Trev. There are some big schools of baitfish around. Not long now!

Re: Anything bitting around Williamstown and Queenscliff???
Fished Williamstown from 5am yesterday morning in 7m, just lots of small pinkies around. Didn’t hear or see any of the boats turn a reel either. I feel like it still might be a couple more weeks before the snapper come in. Keep an eye out for reports, won’t be long now.

Re: Starting with snappers...any tips
I assume this is a 7” 4-8kg rod and a 4000 reel? This is fine for fishing PPB in a boat, mobo or braid is fine there depending on preference. If you’re fishing WPB I would go heavier as you often have to fish heavy in the channels, braid is a must. For land based I would go a 9” rod personally for b...

Re: 2023 Snapper Season
They've been getting a few off Clifton Springs, 6M of water, with smaller fish around that 3-4m mark.
Portarlington have had a few shallower, plenty caught from the pier on bait and plastics.
Can't comment on much elsewhere!

Howdy boys and girls
Hope you all been well, I’ve been quiet lately, started a traineeship at the start of the year so unfortunately I haven’t had any time to fish. Hoping to get back into it this spring/summer. No boat anymore, that got moved on to buy an investment property, but once things settle hopefully I can buy ...

A short and sweet Phillip island LB report
Since it seems quiet around here, I thought I’d upload one. Went for a quick LB fish yesterday. The plan was to go to a popular squid beach to get a feed and hopefully some fresh bait, and the go for some big LB whiting at a not so popular spot. At around 1pm Sunday the 9th, right on slack tide I go...
