If there’s a bit of play but the next tension is too much I’d take it for a small drive then re tighten it and see if it’s bedded in?

A smidge like the 1mm of play is ok I'd say. But what ducky has suggested is the best way to try and fix it.

Finally registered boat today n got out on the water .
Boat has 60 h 2003 mercury on it.
Top speed around 55ks Boat transducer is way to low..
Tows great n no issues as of yet.

When I remove the old bearings I clean inspect them check the numbers on them and buy from a reputable source like bearing services if the bearings are in reasonable condition you can regrease and reinstall.
