Re: Yarra Report
Hi Ronan, I think you'll find it tough going over the next week or so because of the rain and all the dirty water coming down. I reckon up your leader to 12lb-15lb. I think 6lb is a bit light in those waters. There are plenty of eels and big carp. Also try a paternoster rig on one of your rods while...

Re: Yarra Report
Tough fishing the yarra in those conditions - id switch your setup like Anth has suggested and i'd try to focus on fishing either visible structure (a rarity), bends or slow backpools. Straights on the yarra are commonly 2-4m deep with zero structure to entice fish to frequent. Making those changes ...

Flinders Jetty 2/2 2020
Just a quick one. Popped down to Mornington yesterday for a quick fish in the afternoon. Meant to get there in the morning but I was wrangling a few friends too and we were all disorganised. Fished for a couple of hours for squid off Flinders Jetty. No sign of any fish. Our fault - middle of the day...

Re: Cod Baitcast Combo
A Shimano cod raider and a Curado would definitely be my preferred setup for throwing lures at cod but with your price range you could probably change the reel to a casitas to fit your budget. i can only vouch for surface lures as that's all i've caught them on. The koolabung cod cracker 120mm has a...

Re: A few more Estuary Perch from the fresh in Werribee
This stocking program has been a great achievement by fisheries and great for the western suburbs.
Would I travel to fish there no but if it’s on my doorstep yes I would.

Re: Cod Baitcast Combo
50lb braid/50lb leader is a good start as mentioned. learn the fg knot if you don't know it. lures there's sooooo many these days, stump jumper no1s, oar gee plow, Australian crafted invader, spinner baits, koolabung cod cracker or similar surface lures, my personal favourite cod lure is the 85mm an...

Re: Cod Baitcast Combo
I have a catana baitcast rod and its good enough, landed couple fish on it. And Caenan baitcast.
Though I also have Diawa T3 reel and Gen Black rod, I still use my Catana and Caenan.
My cod on surface lure record isnt great, but those mentioned are generally what I use too.
Otherwise, Stumpjumper.

Re: Cod Baitcast Combo
Get something with a bit of length if you can, I wouldn't bother with a rod under 6'. That I can think of the cod raider is one of the better options in your budget but if you can find a good sale the tatula 661hb is a great stick. For lures I would grab some storm arashi cranks, bassman codman spin...

Sorrento pier 5-2-20
Hey guys, Went down to sorrento pier for an evening session with Niroj and decided not to film, terrible decision. I had an egi rod and a ultra light outfit with me and Niroj had the same but also had a heavy rod for spinning for larger salmon. I started off with a slim swim on the lighter rod just ...
